2018/2019 Season Recap Video

May 1st, 2019

Dear Copper Loyalists,

Another winter has come and gone. My first season as Copper Mountain’s President and General Manager couldn’t have been more remarkable. As a Colorado native, I have spent time at Copper all my life and I’m incredibly honored to now have it be my home base.

The 2018/19 season was surely an eventful one.

Talk about snow! We finished the season at 313”, receiving 98 inches in March alone; breaking the resort’s snowfall record for the month since we opened nearly 47 years ago! Our events showcased progression focused marquees such as the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix, Colorado Special Olympics, the USSA Revolution Tour and USASA Nationals. We also mixed in some new music-focused events with our 10 Barrel Pop Up Parties, Snow Beach Concerts and Snowsation. We ended the season with a bang at Sunsation with great concerts from Andy Grammer and The Struts. Overall, Copper Mountain was the place to be this season with an unmatched vibe that represents our unique culture.

Also, we welcomed the IKON pass for the first time and we were thrilled to see these guests taking advantage of all that Copper has to offer. We look forward to once again partnering with Alterra on the IKON pass next season in addition to offering Copper Season Passes and Four Packs. Additionally, with our new Premier and Premier Pass Plus options, you not only receive special access to select lifts just as the former Secret Pass offered, but a host of other benefits including access to the Athletic Club and close-in parking allowing you to maximize your time at the resort.

Our $100 million multi-year transformation continues this summer with several projects both on and off the mountain. The new Tucker Mountain lift will provide access to fantastic expert terrain that was previously accessible via snowcat or hiking only. It will run from the base of the Blackjack lift to the top of The Taco. Solitude Station will be no more as of the 2020/21 season as we are constructing a brand new 25,000 square foot mid-mountain lodge that will include a full-service casual restaurant, full-service bar and lounge, private dining area, cafeteria options and incredible views of the Ten Mile Range.

We will also be working with Leitner Poma to make necessary upgrades to our new chairlifts, including additional lift towers to support and optimize the American Flyer for next season. Additional construction will continue in Center Village as we look to reinvent the “lawn” area that exists between the American Flyer and American Eagle lifts. This will become an exceptional venue for live music and summer events.

Speaking of summer, it is on our doorstep! Due to construction of the new mid-mountain lodge at the top of the American Eagle, our on-mountain offerings will look different than in years past. We reopen on Friday, June 14 with scenic chairlift rides on the Union Creek Quad and Center Village activities. Mountain biking will follow in early July, condition dependent. Also, Copper Creek Golf Course is scheduled to open on Friday, June 7 with a full 18-hole course for the entire summer.

If that’s not enough, our event schedule is set to include Mac & Cheese Fest, Guitar Town and Copper Country, plus a brand-new music series called Copper Live. While construction of the reimagined “lawn” area will be taking place, there will still be plenty of fun to be had.

I truly appreciate all of your support throughout this season as it was one of our most successful yet. Copper’s future is bright, and it wouldn’t be possible without you. I look forward to many years of pushing Copper forward as one of the best year-round resorts in Colorado and beyond. See you this summer!

All the best,
